Happy new year. How has 2016 been treating you so far? It’s a new year but it most certainly will mark a continuum in the evolution of social media platforms and the way we use them. Our team went about having its own predictions for the industry and what really comes out is that platforms will keep on growing, especially those where the importance of video has grown over the last 12 months. I’m thinking Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, but Twitter even, which recently introduced auto-play on all its apps. And what can we say about messaging apps? There too, video calls and live stream video will play a huge part in 2016.

Yes, 2016 will also be a challenging year. Budgets are not growing as fast as the audience’s appetite for great content. This will require more creativity, more knowledge and more control over what we do. The great social media manager isn’t one who simply comes up with great lines, great content plan. A great social media manager is also one who knows how to monitor, analyse, learn, understand and react accordingly. And reaction marketing – a.k.a real-time marketing – is also likely to become big in 2016. You have been warned.

WhatsApp Is Ready For Video Calls – WhatApp seems to have been planning this update for a long time and it’s only logical as other apps have gone the same way throughout the years. Its “little brother”, Facebook Messenger has had video call support since late April 2015 and it was only a matter of time until this feature became available on WhatsApp as well. | |
What Is WeChat, And Why Is It So Important? – We hear a lot and talk about Snapchat, WhatsApp, Messenger, Twitter, or Facebook. These are all platforms that are highly popular in most countries across the globe. However, we often forget that China – a huge market – doesn’t follow the same rules, and has it’s own set of networks and corresponding apps entirely. One of these, is WeChat. |
