LinkedIn announced last week that its new Groups experience is finally here to help members build their professional communities.
Last month we reported that LinkedIn was preparing to bring its groups back to mobile, after having shut down its standalone Groups app earlier in the year. Finally realising how vital LinkedIn Groups are to helping members build their professional communities, the professional network is now introducing a new LinkedIn Groups experience.
Groups are “a shared space where [they] can talk to other professionals about trends in [their] industry, stay connected with fellow alumni, come together to plan networking events, and discuss the many topics [they] care about.” With all that in mind, LinkedIn rebuilt Groups “from the ground up.”
Groups are now available within the LinkedIn app, and on the desktop version of the platform as well. Having focused “on bringing conversations to the forefront” with the addition of many different features over the year, it would have been a pity not to use these. The new Groups experience helps members take full advantage of all of them, allowing them to have more engaging conversations, stay up-to-date, as well as access LinkedIn anytime and anywhere.
To give members more productive ways to participate in groups, they’ll now be able to post original videos, multiple images, and other rich embedded media. They can also reply to comments and edit their posts and comments.
Groups will be available from the LinkedIn iOS and Android apps, and admins will be able to take all group management actions from mobile, whether its messaging group members, accepting requests to join, or removing any posts that break group rules.
Soon, members will be able to navigate to groups faster with a navigation panel on the LinkedIn home page. They’ll also be able to start and join conversations in their groups right from the main feed.
More new features will be added in the future.
