According to reports, Instagram is working on bringing its Direct messaging feature to its web app accessible through a browser.
One of the most requested features on Instagram is to be able to post and schedule posts without having to use the mobile app or a third-party web app. With that technically out of the way now, Instagram is continuing to move features to its web version. This time, Direct – Instagram’s messaging feature.
After shutting down Direct as a standalone app back in May, Instagram moved the feature back into its flagship app. Now, according to new screenshots from Jane Manchun Wong, Instagram seems to be moving Direct into its web experience pretty soon.

The news will, in no doubt, please heavy Instagram users, as this helps make the platform’s messaging tools much more accessible, especially to those with connectivity issues – i.e., no access to reliable data plans or areas with sketchy reception.
With direct messaging taking on a new life on Instagram lately – the recent launch of its Threads app a prime example of this – Instagram is making moves to encourage more users to interact directly with one another.
The feature may, however, take some more time to materialize. Wong has already shared news of an earlier version of Instagram Direct on the web earlier this year.

Of course, the latest version looks like it’s more developed, so who knows… we might have the feature soon.
