Up until now, users could tag other users only in photos, but now Instagram is working on a solution for users to do the same in video posts as well.
According to TechCrunch, which has confirmed the information, video tagging will work similarly to the existing one for photos. However, as it is more challenging to overlay text over moving images, Instagram is considering adding a button that will redirect to the list of tagged accounts.
It is not yet clear whether tagged videos will appear in the same section along with tagged photos in a user’s profile. According to the same sources, this is something that may come at a later time.
Video tagging is available to a limited percentage of users, and there is no definite timeline for a potential public roll out. What we do know, though, is that video is crucial to Instagram. The platform has recently launched IGTV in a bid to get a chunk out of YouTube’s market pie and is also experiencing a surge in Instagram Stories content.
We will update the article as soon as more information becomes available.
