Do you know which app might be growing even faster than Facebook? That would be WhatsApp. And as it happens, WhatsApp already belongs to Facebook since its acquisition back in February 2014. Since it is such a successful app, it is no big surprise that Facebook will soon start using its user data to improve the overall experience it offers to its own users.

The latest update for WhatsApp comes with a little extra: A new feature is now included in the app settings that allows users to: “Share my WhatsApp account information with Facebook to improve my Facebook experiences.”

The update does not really give details on what kind of information or data will be sent through to Facebook, although we can imagine things like contact synchronising would be one of the obvious ones. The news comes after Facebook announced there would be no more subscription fee to use WhatsApp and that the app should remain ad-free.
Well, it is now easy to guess how Facebook is hoping to make its investment worth it. In today’s world, user data is worth much more than money, right?
