A little over a year ago, Ellen de Generes shared what was to become the most retweeted ever selfie on Twitter. It was during the Oscars and, before that, no-one thought a selfie could make history.
And this gave ideas to a few. Tom Bittman, founder of WoS (Wall of Selfies) – a new app entirely dedicated to selfies – decided to take it a step further and make the world biggest selfie.

In fact there already was a world record and it was detained by Microsoft and Coca-cola (1,151 people int the pic). But this young French man (he is only 16) managed to put his name with brio in the Guiness book: his selfie counted 2,530 people in the background!

To succeed in his record attempt, Tom Bittman was helped by a local electro music festival. The organisers allowed him to climb on stage to take his selfie with the crowd. On the technical side, Tom used a fish-eye and a 3.5m long selfie stick to put his iPhone at the necessary distance to grab everyone in the frame.
Tom Bittman is not unknown in the world of selfie as he recently launched WoS: Wall of Selfies, an app that allows people to categorised selfies throughout the world. His app is already a success in the US, India and Brazil and Tom does not hide that his Guiness record was a stunt to try and attract more investors.
Still, congratulations Tom. Until someone else takes a selfie with 2,531 people of course.
