I love pancakes. As much as I love change. Especially when it’s good stuff being added to platforms I already love. So I, for one, saw the global launch of Facebook Reactions as one of the best thing that has ever happened to Facebook.
Reactions give users a choice of 6 “emotions” to engage with content, and that is awesome. For years, social media analysts and listening tools alike have tried to find the right way to measure sentiment on social, well there you are: all we had to do is ask our community to express it clearly and directly themselves. THANK YOU Facebook!

And they are FUN too. Reactions are by themselves a great source of social media engagement. We tried it ourselves yesterday, and it took on straight away, bringing in more engagement than what could usually be expected from a Saturday morning Facebook post (although I have just noticed reactions do not appear in embeds…. mmm need to fix this Facebook!)

On other news, Android users are finally getting Facebook LIVE, it was about time, right? Snapchat keeps the weird and fun coming with its new SwapFace sense and Facebook 360 video is now hitting the catwalks. Awesome stuff.
Oh and yes, there are still a (very) few EARLY BIRD tickets for our #BeatTheBuzz event in April. Get yours before they run out!
So are you ready for this week’s Top 5 trending news on We are Social Media?
Facebook Reactions Are A Great New Tool For Marketers – Reactions are finally here for everyone. And while most users agree that they are good news, some marketers have already voiced their “concern” over a “new metric.” I have decided to share my opinion and let you know why I think reactions are the best thing that has happened for marketers on Facebook in a while.
Facebook Live Starts Rolling Out On Android This Week – OS users rejoiced when Facebook Live became available to all recently. But what about Android users? Still no luck. This is about to change however. Facebook has announced the rollout of the video-streaming feature to Android devices in the U.S. this week.
Swapface Will Make You Laugh Like Never Before – Snapchat has a new lens. Remember those lenses Snapchat added a while back? They let you throw up rainbows, kill flies with your tongue, make yourself look like an alien, etc… Well the new one, dubbed Swapface, will make you laugh… a lot.
6 Major Insights From 10 Years Of Social Media Use – It’s hard to believe, but in only ten years social media have become major parts of our lives. They have brought massive changes to how we communicate, how we work, how we vote, but also to how we think about geographical distance. Other than just their growth, what other notable trends can we identify from 10 years of social media use and their state today?
Facebook’s 360 Video Hits The Catwalks – 360 video is one of the hottest social trends in 2016 and we’ve only started to scratch the surface of how it might be applied in different industries. Recently, we have seen it’s power in sports. 360 video allows users to get a front-row seat at major sporting events. In fashion, 360 video can put users right in the middle of catwalk shows across the globe. |
