Pinterest has announced Shop the Look ads, improved business profiles with video and Shop tab, and global Catalogs and Shopping Ads.
Pinterest has always been a place to discover and be inspired – “a place where people search, browse, shop, and discover new and favorite brands.” Over the years, Pinterest has been introducing various features and tools that make it easier for brands to reach shoppers and help shoppers find what they’re looking for.
Now, to continue this trend, Pinterest is announcing several new features for businesses that help close the loop between dreaming and inspiration and decision making and purchase.
The first feature – Shop the Look ads – is inspired by organic Shop the Look Pins. It offers an easy way for retailers to feature many products in just one ad. The ads appear in a new collections format for mobile devices and allow Pinners to discover up to 25 products based on a Pin’s image.
Shop the Look ads will be rolling out in the U.S. within the next few months, while the organic Shop the Look shopping feature is only available to “select partners in international markets” – the UK, Brazil, Germany, France, and Japan.
Pinterest is also introducing new and improved business profiles with video and Shop tab. The “more dynamic” Business Profile brings Pins and products to the forefront with a dedicated Shop tab that’s designed to allow Pinners to shop directly from the profile and visit a business website.
Now, businesses can also customize their profiles with videos or images, and connect to customers with a new messaging feature.
Finally, Catalogues – the feature that allows businesses to create shoppable Product Pins – will now be expanded to “select partners” in France, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Shopping ads are also coming to the same countries, “so retailers can automatically create Pinterest ads from an existing product catalogue at scale.”
