Social shopping is an important trend, but no social network has really integrated seamless functionalities for users to buy things directly. Instagram might be a good discovery tool, but the absence of links on posts makes buying things from the platform a complicated affair. That’s why third-party solutions exist – just like In/Spree’s app for iOS.

One can find buy buttons on both Twitter and Pinterest, and Facebook is building storefronts for Pages, but on Instagram things aren’t so simple. In/Spree just launched an app for iOS that will help users find clothes that “fashion influencers” are wearing and buy them. Essentially, it is an “Instagram for shopping”. Users follow influencers and then they can find either the clothes that are being worn, or others that match their characteristics.

There are two types of In/Spree users. Simple “users” and “influencers”. Simple users can follow influencers – who need to have at least 10,000 followers to qualify. Users browse and can interact with posts by liking and commenting on them, but they can also press the “Want” or “Shop the Look” buttons. This way, users can create a wish list of things they would like to buy, but can also find and buy them.
The app has its own shopping cart, and the entire buying process takes place within the app. However, some items can only be bought from the brand’s website through their web browser. Have a look! Download here.
