Time to celebrate! Facebook has just rolled out video comments! That’s right, you can use the power of ‘the moving image’ when commenting on your friends’ status updates.
The update is available on iOS and Android and some users see a pop up notification which informs them about the feature. When responding to a comment, users can tap on the camera icon and select a pre-existing video or record a new one. On the desktop version of Facebook, users can only attach a pre-recorded video. It is not yet known if a recording option will be added at a later time.
So far, users were only allowed to post text, or image comments, as replies. With more and more investment being channeled into video, it made sense for Facebook to incorporate more video features throughout the platform, so as to encourage even more content-sharing.
The new feature is similar to what Snapchat already does, however it is not know yet whether Facebook will add the option for users to edit their video replies before posting them on the platform.
