2016 isn’t even over, but we can already claim that this was the year when Instagram (read Facebook) really took on Snapchat. After Stories, disappearing messages and other copycat moves, Instagram will now let you add Stickers to your Stories. Yes. Just like Snapchat.
If you update to the latest version of the Instagram app on your phone, you will probably notice a new “smiley face” button on the upper-right hand corner of your screen while creating a new Instagram Story.
One tap on this button will open up a list of stickers you can add to your photos or videos. Just like the example below:
The company is launching seasonal Stickers right now, but it also offers specific Stickers based on your location, current time and the weather. That’s a slight twist from Snapchat, where those are only available as Filters, and not as Stickers.
Nevertheless, it is very safe to say that Instagram was (once again) inspired by Snapchat for this new feature. Now, I’ll admit that the stickers actually look awesome, and I love using them in my Instagram stories. There, I said it!
