WhatsApp Introduces Animated Stickers, QR Codes, And More

WhatsApp announced the rollout of Animated Stickers, QR codes, dark mode on web and desktop, and more.

Despite its obvious issues with the spread of misinformation, WhatsApp has still become a favourite among 2 billion people who use the app to chat with their friends and families. And the messaging app just keeps on growing.

In a blog post last week, WhatsApp announced the rollout of several new features to help its users better express themselves.

The new features have already started rolling out and will continue to do so for the next few weeks.

Animated Stickers: Stickers are one of the most popular ways that people communicate. WhatsApp is now rolling out new animated sticker packs that make communication on the platform even more fun and expressive.

QR codes: To make it easier for users to add new contacts, WhatsApp is now rolling out the ability to scan a QR code to add someone to your contact list.

Dark mode for WhatsApp web and desktop: Dark mode recently rolled out on mobile. Now WhatsApp is rolling out the feature on the web and within its desktop app.

Improvements to group video calls: WhatsApp video calls allow up to 8 participants so this feature is great to help you focus on the person you want. All you have to do is press and hold to maximize a participant’s video to full screen. Group chats of 8 people or less, now also get a video icon so you can easily start a group video call with just one tap.

Status comes to KaiOS: KaiOS users are now able to use Status – updates that disappear after 24 hours.
