Unless you have spent the last week or so under a rock, you are probably aware that there has been a lot of movement in the world of social photo sharing apps. In fact, there has been not one but two new apps, in the space of just a few days!
I’m sure you have come across Prisma. It’s all over our Instagram feeds to be honest, and that is well deserved because Prisma creates real works of art from our pictures. But how good it looks isn’t even the most interesting thing about Prisma, it’s more about how the images are built!
And the second one, Swing, comes from Polaroid… now that is a jump into the 21st century for the company!

Talking about photo sharing, Buffer has finally introduced support for Instagram scheduling. It’s not perfect yet (but that’s Instagram’s fault) but it is a very useful add-on. Make sure you check it out.
Finally, this week, Twitter and Facebook also had their share of the news. The former is testing a new section dubbed “Featured” where users and brands can “save” tweets that will stick up on their timeline. Yes, it sounds very similar to “pin tweets” but it also is so much better.
Facebook came up with something very cool. The platform is now allowing us to format text using Markdown (that means you can add rich text and links). It is only available on Event Pages for now but no doubt this should roll out widely soon.

So are you ready for this week’s Top 5 trending news on We are Social Media?
Make Each Photo And Video Look Amazing With Prisma– There is a new photo app in town, and it’s already trending across the globe. Prisma is a new photo app that can transform any of your photos into a work of art; with over 30 filters to choose from.
Facebook Is Testing Rich Text Formatting With Markdown – After years of frustration, Facebook could soon allow us to format our status updates by allowing Markdown formatting. As explained by Wikipedia, Markdown is a lightweight markup language that allows you to convert plain text into rich text and HTML.
You Can Now Schedule Your Instagram Posts On Buffer – Buffer is certainly one of the great ways to schedule your social media content. I personally use it for all my Twitter and LinkedIn shares, but it also works great with Facebook and Pinterest. And now, Buffer is also offering support for Instagram.
Twitter Is Testing A New Way To Feature Tweets – A while ago, Twitter had rolled out the ability to “pin a tweet” to your timeline, allowing it to “stick” to the top of your profile timeline. But that’s it. Just one Tweet. The rest would still disappear over time when a new tweet is posted. Not great, right?
Polaroid Launches Its Own Photo Sharing App – You may have thought that Polaroid was dead. Maybe even 20 years ago. But that’s not the case. The company well-known for its instant cameras has just swung into the digital era with a new photo sharing app that allows you to turn your static photos into moving ones. |
