Since 2005, the year when YouTube was born, a revolution started, boosted by Google which quickly acquired the video platform back in 2006. Today everything is video, and by 2019, video is expected to account for 80% of all internet traffic!

10 years ago, social video did not exist, well almost. It was 2005, and YouTube was born and almost immediately acquired by Google, immediately understanding its potential. Just five years later, YouTube was already receiving over 3 billion views per day! Today, YouTube reaches more 18-49 year-olds than any cable operator in the US.

Video is expecting to keep on growing even more. By 2020, 60% of all mobile data traffic is expected to be generated by video, and 80% of all internet traffic by 2019. Huge, did you say?

Last year, a new trend emerged: live-streaming on a simple smartphone. With the launch of Meerkat, Periscope and more recently Facebook Live, anyone can now be a broadcaster. And from the millions of us who are sharing live videos, billions of views are generated each day, making video the strongest and most shared medium in the digital world.
