Snapchat is debuting Snap Originals – exclusive Shows featuring interactive experiences that users can actually step into and share with their friends.
Unique shows aren’t something new on Snapchat, as Discover already features many, and has for some time. But with Snapchat’s latest exclusive shows – Snap Originals – announced earlier this week differ in a major way: They allow users to experience some scenes through AR. Yes, users can pretty much step into scenes with a new feature called “Show Portals.”
Snap Originals are exclusive shows “created by some of the world’s greatest storytellers, with new episodes released every day!” They begin with Co-Ed, “a new comedy from the Duplass Brothers; Class of Lies, a mystery thriller from one of the minds behind Riverdale; and Endless Summer, a docuseries following rising stars in Laguna Beach — from Bunim/Murray, the creators of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
The interactive Show Portals feature allows users to swipe up and step inside scenes to experience them for themselves. Snap Originals will also feature Lenses, Filters, and other ways for users to share the experience with their friends.
Snap Originals are available to watch right now. All you have to do is go to the Discover page or search for a show on Snapchat.
