On Saturday, Periscope became 1 year old. And what a year it has been for the Twitter-owned app! Over 200 million broadcasts in its first 12 months of existence!
And that’s not all. On both its Android and iOS apps combined, Periscope users watch over 110 years of live video content every single day!
That is already a huge number in itself, but if you compare it to the 40 years worth of video we were watching every day just 7 months ago, you understand how Periscope is making history, changing the way we consume online content forever.

Periscope is still secretive about how many users it really has, but it could be near 100 millions today. Although that is purely speculative.
A Quick Look Back
Periscope was born a year ago, on March 26th 2015, the date when it was acquired by Twitter. Although it only started as a web and iOS app, Periscope was fast to join Android.

From then on, Periscope kept on improving its user experience, adding new features like landscape support, replays and Go Pro support.
Funnily enough, Periscope did not mention its web presence in its first-year stats, despite web profiles and its Apple TV launch reported to have counted for much of its rapid growth over the past 12 months. But OK, that’s only seeing at 100% of its broadcasting capacity is still mobile only.
There is only one thing left to say: Happy birthday Periscope! You rock!
