The Instagram chronological feed is back. It’s called “Following” and comes with more new options to scroll through your feed.
Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, had promised it last December. Today, it is making its grand comeback: the chronological feed is back on Instagram. Even better, the app now offers three feed options: Following, Favorites, and Home.

The ‘Home’ option is basically the current algorithmically sorted feed that Instagram introduced in 2016. It will remain the default option when you open Instagram.
‘Following’ is the one many of you have been waiting for. It’s a return to the origins with a chronological stream of posts from the accounts you follow.
And ‘Favorites’ is what exactly what the name stands for: a collection of accounts you choose to see content from, which will also be shown in chronological order.
The news was broken by Adam Mosseri on Wednesday where he explained that the news feed options have begun rolling out and will continue to do so over the next few weeks. He also said that a ‘final version’ of the feed options should be available to all users in the first half of 2022, hinting that some tweaks may happen in between based on user feedback.
Mosseri added that the ‘Home’ option will also feature “more and more recommendations over time,” making it function as a discovery hub for content.
