According to WABetaInfo, the new feature, which is still in development, will be available on iOS and Android when rolled out. We don’t actually know when that might be, but the next two to three months is a realistic timeframe.

We know little about this feature, apart from the fact that you can’t save disappearing photos to use them elsewhere. You may be able to take a screenshot, of course, as there is no such detection – at least at the moment.
According to WABetaInfo, Instagram Direct disappearing messages work in exactly the same way.
