Twitter is looking to increase engagement on Fleets with a new feature that allows you to add images or videos as a background when Fleeting your Tweets. The feature was first spotted in testing, but it has now been announced for iOS.

When composing a Fleet, you can now tap on the camera icon to take a photo or record a video. Alternatively, you can tap on the image icon to choose one from your camera roll.
How to Add a Video or Image to a Fleet
- Tap on the share icon on a Tweet, and then tap on “Share in a Fleet.”
- Tap on the camera icon to take a photo or video to add to your Fleet.
- Alternatively, tap on the image icon to choose an image or video from your camera roll.
Apart from bringing a more visual flair to your Fleets, it will allow you to comment more easily on the Tweets that you Fleet.

As explained by Twitter designer @shuangsta last month, Twitter wanted to give people the ability to easily “share media-based ephemeral commentary and responses to Tweets.”
“Capturing directly on Twitter enables off-the-cuff responses and commentary, while adding from the media gallery supports fun use cases like memes, for the Extremely Online™ (…all of us at the moment),” she says.
