Since they were introduced, Twitter Polls could only run for a fixed period of 1 day. Not more, not less. Although there never was an official explanation for this, many believed the reason was likely linked to the “lifetime” of a tweet.
One thing is for sure though. 1 day is not always the ideal time for a short poll. Sometimes you want a quicker return, and sometimes you want your followers to have more time to answer. Well, guess what: Twitter polls can now run for as long as you want.

Actually, maybe that was a bold statement. The reality is that you can now set Twitter polls to run from a minimum of 5 minutes, all the way up to 7 days.

And it is really easy to set too! After typing in you poll question and providing multiple answer options, you can now select how long you want your poll to run for, in quite a lot of detail.
Note that you need to tap on each “wheel” before being able to roll it to the number you want. The maximum time you can set is 7 days and the minimum is 5 minutes (I tried to set it to less but it would not work). There again, taking into account the pace of Twitter, a poll would have almost no chance of gathering enough answers in just 1 minute, or would it?
When announcing the new feature, Twitter also claimed that Polls have already cast over 1.7 billion votes. If anyone still had doubts about the feature…
