TikTok just launched a new “TikTok for Artists” insights platform designed to help artists build their careers with TikTok. The platform is currently being tested in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, and Indonesia.
“TikTok for Artists” provides artists with tools to promote their songs, create campaigns for upcoming releases, understand performance metrics and engage with fans on the platforms. They will also be able to launch engagement and monetization campaigns to, for example, drive pre-sales or exclusive merch drops.

Artists will also get access to performance data to understand how well their posts and songs are doing. It will allow them to learn more about their fans, including from which countries they come from.
There is a feature that allows artists to highlight fan videos into a new section called “Music Tab Fan Spotlight” and build community through the platform.
Music has always been a big part of TikTok as the app plays a huge role in driving music trends and viral songs. Adding insights dedicated to helping artists make better use of the platform is a logical next step.
As noted by TechCrunch, the launch comes months after ByteDance decided to shut down TikTok Music, a music streaming service that was being tested in a handful of countries. At the time, the company said it decided to retire the service in order to “focus on our goal of furthering TikTok’s role in driving even greater music listening and value on music streaming services.”
