TikTok is offering an experimental toolset called Effect Studio, to allow developers to create AR effects and experiences.
TikTok is following in the footsteps of Facebook and Snap with the test of a new set of tools called TikTok Effect Studio, that will allow developers to build AR effects for the app.

According to reports, the all-new Effect Studio is currently in private beta testing on a web platform that allows interested developers to sign up for access on the “Effect House” website.
To register, developers need to submit their name, email, TikTok account info, company, level of experience building for AR, and provide examples of their work.
The project is still “an early experiment” and is only available in a few select markets, including the US.
The launch of an AR toolset open to developers would make TikTok more competitive by allowing it to expand its features and experiences, something the app strongly relies its appeal on.
Although TikTok has been increasingly investing in developer tools over the past couple of years, it still relies on third-party developers to expand its AR effects.
The new toolkit provided by Effect Studio makes it easier for developers to add TikTok features to their apps.
However, Effect Studio’s focus is to also have developers build AR effects and experiences that can be used directly on the platform.
