Snapchat Launches Its First-Ever Dedicated Shopping Channel Ahead Of Black Friday

Snapchat has launched its first-ever dedicated shopping channel where users can browse deals from selected brands and shop exclusive drops and unique offers right within the app.

Just in time for Black Friday, Snapchat last week launched “Shop and Cop,” its first-ever dedicated shopping channel on Discover. According to Snapchat’s description of the channel, it will feature “everything from exclusive drops to unique offers,” and users can get the deals without having to leave the app.

Snapchat itself will curate the brands and offers within the channel, while Shopify will take care of the actual buying process. To boost engagement and awareness of the offer and the brands behind them, Snapchat will be promoting them to users, while the deals themselves will have a time-limit.

It’s not clear yet what cut – if any – Snapchat will take from any ensuing transactions.

The move is reminiscent of Snapchat’s other recent e-Commerce efforts, more notably, Shoppable Snap Ads and Product Catalogs that are currently rolling out to all advertisers and are made available through Snapchat’s self-service ad-buying platform.

More recently, Snapchat and Amazon announced a partnership for a “visual search” tool that lets people use Snapchat’s camera app to find real-life items within Amazon’s inventory.
