Pinterest has partnered with several brands to create special gift-finding tools to help shoppers with their holiday shopping.
Macy’s, Lowe’s, and Kohl’s have all launched new special gift-finding tools that will help them with their holiday strategies on Pinterest, while Etsy in partnership with Pinterest has developed “The Etsy Gift Guide.” The tools all help the brands with their holiday strategies and provide users with personalised shopping experiences.
The Gift Globes developed for Macy’s, Lowe’s and Kohl’s help users find gift ideas. Users simply enter information about what they are looking for and the tool will provide a personalised list of options based on what they searched for. Hint: I searched for “stockings.”
To get more gift ideas, users can then also shake their device (they will need to be on Pinterest’s mobile app obviously, and the tool gives them new gift options. They are also able to tap on the “Buy now” button under a product to launch page to purchase the product within Pinterest. To promote the gift globes, the brands used Pinterest’s new full-width Promoted Videos. They also used Promoted Pins to drive more users to the customised platform.
Pinterest’s partnership with Etsy produced an “Etsy Gift Finder” tool to help Pinterest users find gifts from Etsy’s marketplace. By completing a “virtual gift tag”, users can specify further the type of gift they’re looking for. They are then taken to an Etsy personalised product page where users can buy items directly through its own marketplace.
Similarly, Etsy is using the new maximum-width Promoted Videos and Promoted Pins to promote the gift-finder.
