In September, Instagram opened its self-serve ad platform via Facebook’s Ad Manager – to all users in 30 markets worldwide. Today, Instagram caters to over 200,000 brands, 75% of which are located outside the US, and placing the company ahead of Twitter. That’s what you call a success story.
James Quarles, Instagram’s global Head of Business and Brand Development, explained:
Instagram is the ‘look book’ for brands people love and the shop window for small businesses on mobile. We are excited to welcome 200,000 advertisers to the platform because the more diverse our advertiser base, the more relevant we can make the ads that people see.
Backed up by the blue giant, unbeatable global leader in social advertising, Instagram has a bright future to look forward to. Maybe it should watch out not to become a platform where only brands with heavy budgets can be represented. After all, we still want to see the dog and baby pics, right ?
