Instagram has partnered with GIPHY to add animated GIF stickers to Stories, and the (social) world will never be the same again.
This is it. Instagram Stories are getting a long-awaited update as GIF stickers are rolling out to all users today. Like the current stickers, GIF stickers can be added to videos and photos in your Instagram Stories.
To add a GIF sticker to a photo or video in your Stories, tap on the new GIF option. You will gain access to a library with hundreds of thousands of GIFs, all powered by GIPHY. Choose one of the trending ones, or search for the GIF that will really spice up your Story. From bouncing pizzas to dancing cats, I promise you, they are all there. And like any other sticker, you can resize it, rotate it and pin it down on a video).
GIF stickers are already available to users worldwide, but you will need to update to version 29 of the app to get them.
Instagram has also announced it will soon give users the ability to upload photos and videos of any size to Stories. When adding a landscape or bigger photo to your Instagram Stories, pinch it to bring it to its original dimensions (or any dimension you want). The extra room will be automatically filled with a custom color gradient that matches your photo.
