I am convinced that VR is the next big interface revolution – Facebook feels the same. It is certainly investing a huge amount of resources in the development of the technology itself, but it is also making sure it takes part in the VR ecosystem. At the moment, Facebook is one of the best places to discover 360 video, and if you’ve got Oculus Video, you’re in luck because now there’s a Facebook Videos tab that will help you discover and share 360 videos.
Facebook is the place to be to discover and share 360 video and it is extending onto Oculus Video this week, “making it even easier to watch 360 content in VR”. As the company explains,
We’ve added a new Facebook Videos tab to Oculus Video, and starting next week, you’ll be able to connect your Facebook account with Oculus Video to personalize your 360 video feed based on the pages and people you follow.
In the next few weeks, this integration will be intensified, and users will be able to easily Like and Share their favourite videos. Essentially, you will be able to fully interact with the content directly in Oculus VR.
The company is also releasing new tools later in the month to help developers create better social VR apps and games, adding to the ecosystem that is currently growing fast! It is clear that social media and VR are going to be going hand-in-hand in the near future. As Oculus explains,
Virtual reality will continue to drive deeper social connections, and we can’t wait to bring it to more people around the world!
