Meta has introduced the Facebook Reels API, a solution allowing developers to build a ‘share to reels’ option into their apps.
After introducing its Instagram Reels API back in June, Meta is now adding a Facebook Reels API to its portfolio of enterprise solutions for developers to use in their web or desktop applications.

Many creators use third-party tools to manage and share their content. The Facebook Reels API will now let developers of these tools offer their users the ability to share video content directly to Reels.
Simply put, the new ‘share to reels’ feature brings the sharing of Reels to Facebook Pages from desktop or web-based apps, thus removing any friction that existed – i.e. creators would need to wait to upload their content to Facebook Reels, as opposed to sharing directly with the touch of a button from their third-party service of choice.
The API is great for content creation platforms, social media management platforms, large publishers, and enterprise creators who want to integrate the option into their services or workflows, giving their users more options.
At the time of writing, Meta says that three partners have already integrated Facebook Reels API into their services: Jellysmack, Sprout Social, and Wix.
If you are a developer and would like to integrate your application with the Facebook Reels API, you can find more information in Meta’s Developer Documents.
