Did you ever dream of becoming an astronaut when you were a kid? Of course you did! It is like a dream job, the one you could never get though, because let’s face it, who has the skills to become an astronaut? Only a few people around the world, right?

And that is where LinkedIn steps in. It’s new TV ad, a first for the company, tells us that over 3 million of its users could qualify to become astronauts. And LinkedIn knows that, because we all share our experience and skills on its platform.

The campaign message is not about signing up for LinkedIn… not directly anyway. It’s about more than that, it is about showing the world how the platform can kickstart your career, and help you get the job of your dreams. Nick Bartle, VP of Marketing at LinkedIn, explained this in a blog post:
Our data shows that many of your aspirations, even the ones that seem like unattainable dreams, are actually achievable. LinkedIn exists to help you pursue those careers that fill you with a sense of purpose. We’re endeavoring to redefine what it means to be well connected, so that you can achieve your vision.
The TV ad will be aired for the first time during this year’s Academy Awards, and it comes just after LinkedIn announced that it now counts 414 million members, and 100 million unique visitors every month.
