Instagram Wants To Be (A Bit) More Like Snapchat

There has already been a little confusion between Facebook and Twitter both having an app or feature called Moments (although each does a very different thing) and Snapchat’s Live Stories. Now, it seems that Instagram has also got a bit jealous too, and could be rolling out its own version of curated content libraries.

Twitter Moments was launched only a couple of weeks ago, but it seems to be growing fast in popularity. And now, on top of Snapchat‘s own live stories, it seems like Instagram wants to join the dance too.

A new feature – yet to be named – seems to have appeared within the Explore tab of some users in the US, this Halloween: a curated collection of videos shared on the service.

The new feature was first reported by re/code explaining that Instagram wants to make it easier for users to find interesting content that is relevant to their location  or to events that are taking place near them.

It seems like Facebook (which owns Instagram) may be looking into competing directly with the likes of Twitter Moments or Snapchat’s Live Stories – Facebook seems to have a habit of treading on Snapchat’s toes ever since it failed to acquire it back in 2013.

For now however, Snapchat is curating stories like these daily, while Instagram is only starting. But with Instagram content’s engagement and shareability, one could easily see how this could become a big thing for the Facebook-owned platform.
