Instagram Adds A Built-In Teleprompter For Reels Creators

Instagram is making it easier for creators to stay on script without constantly restarting recordings.

The platform has officially brought its teleprompter feature from Edits into the main Instagram camera, giving creators a simple way to read scripts while recording videos directly in the app.

The update was announced by Instagram boss Adam Mosseri, who shared the news via his Instagram broadcast channel.

“We brought the teleprompter feature from Edits into the main Instagram camera. You can now add a script that scrolls while you record. Helpful if you want to stay on message without doing a ton of takes.”

A Teleprompter Inside Instagram’s Main Camera

The feature first launched inside Instagram’s standalone editing app, Edits, in June 2025. It allows creators to upload or write a script that automatically scrolls on-screen while recording, positioning the text close to the front-facing camera.

The result is a more natural presentation style. Instead of memorizing lines or glancing off-screen at notes, creators can maintain eye contact with the camera while following their script in real time.

Instagram has also included controls that allow users to adjust the scrolling speed, making it easier to match the pace of their delivery.

Why This Matters For Creators

For creators who regularly record educational content, product explainers, tutorials, or talking-head videos, the addition could significantly reduce the number of retakes needed to produce polished content.

The ability to read a script while looking directly at the camera helps videos feel more conversational and authentic, even when the creator is delivering carefully prepared messaging.
