Who would have thought that one of the most memorable Homer Simpson GIF would make its way onto the latest Stan Smith sneakers?
It is like two icons getting together for a formidable collaboration: an iconic sneaker, the Adidas Stan Smith, and one of pop culture’s most memorable GIF, Homer Simpson disappearing in the bushes.
Voilà.
The famous Homer GIF derives from The Simpsons episode “Homer Loves Flanders,” which features a surprising reversal of characterization: Homer who normally loathes his neighborino, Ned Flanders, suddenly grows to love his God-fearing nemesis. The scene where Homer backs into the bushes comes from a moment where Flanders rejects Homer’s offer to hang out. Funnily enough, most people forget that Homer begins the scene by actually entering from the bushes.
The GIF almost immediately became an international symbol for capturing moods like embarrassment or simply “staying out of it.”
And now it has met another icon, the Adidas Stan Smith.

The Homer Simpson Stan Smith follows the recently-seen Marge Simpson Superstars, a sneaker entirely covered of a similar blue fuzzy material symbolizing Marge’s famous hairdo.

Although most of the details of these upcoming The Simpsons x Adidas Stan Smith “Homer Backing Into Bushes” shoes are being kept under wraps by the shoe label. The pair will be sold via Adidas’ online stores and at select retail outlets, alongside the label’s stores. The shoes are expected to arrive later this year.
