Girlboss Sophia Amoruso announced the launch of a new LinkedIn-like networking platform, exclusively for women. It will debut early next year.
For most women, Sophia Amoruso needs no introduction. Known as #Girlboss, Sophia is an inspiration to women entrepreneurs across the world. During her 2014 book tout, she noticed that women in line would engage in meaningful conversations about their businesses and goals. Her idea for a professional networking platform, exclusive to women, was born.
“That was something that seemed even more important to them than the book itself, that they were able to find self-selecting women who had ambition, who might be small business owners, who want to level up in their careers. And there was really no other place to do that.”
The Girlboss movement grew strong through content: articles, a podcast and Sophia’s book. But she also built up a strong online community, with her Facebook Group bringing together over 5,000 women. Now the Girlboss team feels it is time for the next stage, and launching their own paltform to engage with their community.
“The book naturally built a community, and the podcast continued that, and so did the other content and the Girlboss rallies, but [the fans] really asked, how can we be connected all year long?”
Girlboss Community will be a LinkedIn-like social networking platform. Every user will have its own profile to display their resume while most of the conversation will happen in a central feed. Amoruso hopes that Girlboss Community will become the place for women to find the resources to grow in their career and help each other.
