The findings are impressive. As users take pictures, the delay caused in food consumption increases the savouring associated with consumption of pleasurable (read unhealthy) foods and increases a positive attitude and taste evaluation of the experience when consumption actually takes place.
UGC, and all related #FoodPorn moments make more healthy options, and dishes taste better. So now you know, next time you go on a diet, and don’t feel like eating that fruit salad, just snap a picture for an instant improvement in taste.
How can marketing managers benefit from such findings? There’s an obvious way; Encouraging customers to take pictures, and submitting them to their personal social media accounts will help them have a better eating experience, while spreading a positive word about how delicious their meal was.
See? It’s a win-win situation!
