Facebook is launching new initiatives for Horizon creators, including a new $10M Creator Fund to support the creator and developer community.
After launching Horizon as an invite-only beta in 2020, Facebook spent the last year developing and improving the platform – and its developer and creator tools.
To support the early creators on Horizon and the developer community, Facebook is now launching new initiatives, including a $10 million Creator Fund that the company hopes will encourage more developers and creators to build for Horizon.

Over the next year, Facebook says it will distribute the funds from the program in the following different ways:
Community Competitions: Later this year, Facebook will launch several creator competitions that reward those who build the best worlds in Horizon and those who use all the tools Facebook offers for Horizon. Rewards include up to $10k in cash prizes for the first-, second-, and third-place winners. Those interested in the competitions can sign up here.
Creator Accelerator Program: Facebook is also continuing its Creator Accelerator Program, “an application-based initiative designed to give people from diverse backgrounds an advanced crash course in Horizon Worlds creation.” The program will allow people to gain all “the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in a professional environment” while helping them build more inclusive worlds.
Applications open in November for an expanded program that will begin in 2022.
Funding For Developers: Developers, studios, or creators can partner with Facebook for funded opportunities to create new experiences for Horizon around specific themes. Interested parties can sign up find out more about the next set of themes here.
