IKEA has established itself as a shopping reference, but did you know it also had its own hotel since 1964?
Since its creation in 1943, IKEA has established itself as a shopping experience for customers across the world. In addition to offering a wide range of indoor and outdoor furniture as well as collections made in collaboration with famous designers, IKEA is also known for its cafeteria and its famous meatballs that attract millions of people every year.

But as if that wasn’t enough, the brand has also ventured into the hotel business. However, it has shown to be a limited experience: to this day, there is only one IKEA hotel in the world, located in Älmhult, Sweden, the city where the furniture giant was born. It was founded in 1964, as “Motell IKEA” and has since undergone three major renovations and extensions, before changing its name to “IKEA Hotell.”
Today, the IKEA hotel offers 254 rooms which are all fully furnished and decorated using IKEA furniture and accessories. Rooms are available to book on the hotel website for just €92 ($100) per night. This is no doubt the best way to discover the latest from your favorite furniture store, and probably enjoy some of its famous cuisine, including the world-known Swedish meatballs.
And of course, it is a very instagrammable destination.
