Decentraland has announced the “Metaverse Festival,” its first music festival, that will take place between October 21 and 24 in the Decentraland metaverse.
The blockchain-based virtual social world announced the four-day music and cultural event, with more than 80 artists across five stages, performing – Deadmau5, Paris Hilton, Flume, 3LAU, Nina Nesbitt, RAC, and dozens more.
A “very special” surprise guest will also appear on an unspecified day and stage of the festival.

The immersive event will be filled with multisensory experiences, including VIP areas, a funfair equipped with a rollercoaster, a Ferris wheel and pirate ship rides, a human cannonball machine, a psychedelic sculpture garden, a merch store for NFT wearables, and even portable toilets.
The theme of the Metaverse Festival is “Evolution,” and it will evolve over the four days to reflect a succession of sub-themes. The main stage will change its architectural design each day, from “Water” to “Earth,” “Space,” and “Metaverse” for the grand finale on the last day.
So far, the Metaverse Festival has attracted sponsorships from Rarible, Heineken, Metapurse, Playboy, Monkey Shoulder, and Kraken.
The appearance of guest star Paris Hilton has ushered in the first-ever collaboration between Decentraland and avatar technology company Genies, whose team built the Hilton look-alike metaverse-ready skin.
Jake Becker, Head of Talent Relations at Genies, said, “Paris kickstarting her Genies journey with a virtual performance in Decentraland is quintessential Paris Hilton. She’s a queen amongst culture, blockchain, and now the metaverse.” A surprise guest has curated the outfits for Hilton’s DJ performance to make his metaverse fashion debut.
“The Metaverse Festival is really the culmination of the long-standing support of music, artists, and live performance in Decentraland,” said Sam Hamilton, Head of Community & Events at the Decentraland Foundation. “It’s a celebration of music and culture in the virtual social world, but also a recognition that the metaverse has arrived as a viable, irresistible and profitable space for creative people, whatever their medium or background.”
The festival will also showcase decentralized blockchain technology and how it has the potential to empower all people, no matter where they are.
Decentraland is a decentralized virtual social platform powered by the Ethereum blockchain. Within the Decentraland platform, users can create, experience, and monetize content and applications. Decentraland is unique in that it is owned and governed by the people who use the platform every day.
Through the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), users can submit proposals for owners of MANA (Decentraland currency) and LAND (Decentraland property) to vote on.
