To prove that its Whopper outsizes McDonald’s Big Mac, Burger King revealed it has hidden a Big Mac behind every Whopper that has appeared in an ad in 2019.
Burger King is known for its PR stunts and particularly the ones targeting its rival McDonald’s. But this year’s finale is a beauty. In its last stunt of the year, Burger Kind revealed it hid a Big Mac behind every Whopper ad: within every piece of print, TV, OOH and in-store advertising.
Creative agency BBH is behind the year-long stunt that saw a Big Mac placed behind every Whopper photographed in 2019. The point is made: the Whopper outsizes the Big Mac on all aspects.
Ian Heartfield, chief creative officer at BBH London said: “Placing our competitor’s product in our own ads throughout 2019 without anyone knowing has been one of the most fun ideas we have ever executed. It is of course just a good old fashioned product comparison idea, but it’s been brought bang up to date by some lateral thinking and rebellious media behavior. We’re loving it.”
We are loving it too.
