Nintendo is planning to release an upgraded version of the Switch this year, with a 7-inch OLED screen, according to a new report by Bloomberg. Samsung will be providing the screen, a 720p rigid OLED panel. The same report announces that the screen will go into mass production in June, giving us some indication as to when the new Nintendo Switch would be available (hint: probably in time for the Holiday season.)
The current model, the original version of the Switch, has a 6.2-inch LCD panel, while the Switch Lite has a 5.5-inch 720p LCD.
Bloomberg also noted that the upgraded Switch will offer 4K graphics when hooked up to a TV.
Nintendo will aim to produce “just under a million units” per month, possibly avoiding a shortage like what happened with the current model.
