Five weeks since the test began, Twitter has officially launched its new 280-character limit, and some brands are already “rocking it.” Here is our top 10 selection.
At the end of September, Twitter announced it started testing a new 280-character limit for tweets. On November 8th, 2017, the rollout became official, and since then the new limit is here for everyone. As is often the case, brands immediately jumped on the opportunity.
Now, I am pretty sure this will never actually become a thing. Right now brands (and users) are excited about the new limit, but over time, things will pretty much continue to be short and to the point on the platform. In fact, during the test, Twitter found that only 5 percent of tweets had more than 140 characters, and just 2 percent had more than 190 characters….
But for the moment, let’s enjoy the creative wave that was born from it. Below is our selection of some brands that have already tested the new longer tweets. Some are pretty creative, others are very smart, and some are just pure genius.
