Instagram is definitely the platform to be on when you have the ability to share beautiful pictures of your products. But here is the thing: many brands are already on Instagram, spending a sizeable chunk of their marketing budget to produce high quality visuals and sharing/promoting them on the platform.
So what can we do? Well, for starters, you can do it like McDonald’s Singapore, and “break” the Instagram feed with something original. McDonald’s transformed their usual simple food pics into a real Instagram comic book.

It is a very simple, yet original, creative idea that has allowed McDonald’s to gain huge awareness among Instagram users in Singapore.
Each product image is altered by an illustrator by hand, before being uploaded to the brand’s Instagram account. The illustrations make full use of the original photo, and bring it to life, much like you would expect from a real comic book.

Note, that this is not the first time a brand turns to an illustrator to work on social images. Last year, UK Brand, PopChips, had called upon a London-based illustrator to “pop lunches”. You check out the activation here.
