No, you can’t edit a Tweet, but Twitter’s new “Add to thread” feature lets you add new Tweets to old ones. It’s probably the closest thing we’re ever going to get to an edit button.
The ability to edit Tweets is probably the most-requested feature on Twitter, but it’s highly unlikely we will ever see it. Jack Dorsey himself even recently confirmed that we will probably never get an edit button on Twitter.
The main reason for this, again according to Dorsey, is that old Tweets might have been shared by other users, and editing them just wouldn’t be fair. However, with “Add to thread” we’re getting something pretty similar.
Sure, while we still can’t edit an old tweet, we can at least add a new tweet to it, revisiting old thoughts with new ones.

Although it has just been released, “Add to thread” has been in the works for quite some time; it was first spotted by developer, and blogger, Jane Manchun Wong last September.

Twitter has long aimed to become the “conversation platform,” so it’s no wonder it’s rolling out feature after feature that enables conversations. A recent example – conversation threads – were rolled out just last week on iOS.
But the question remains: we’ve already been able to Retweet or comment on old Twitter content, so do we really need to start new conversations out of old stuff?
