WhatsApp is updating its storage management tool, allowing you to easily find and delete files that are clogging up your phone storage.
WhatsApp has had a “Storage Usage” tool for some time, but all it does is sort chats by the amount of space they take up from your device storage. You also get the number of messages, images, GIFs, and videos within each, letting you delete each category easily. Now, WhatsApp is looking to make storage management a lot more detailed with a new storage management tool.

WhatsApp’s new storage management tool, expected to roll out globally this week offers a view into the content itself, letting you browse the files via thumbnails. The tool also lets you order the content in categories like “Forwarded many times” and “Larger than 5 MB.” The idea is to make it easier to find only the media you really want to get rid of – not everything.
The tool will start becoming available within the app, in Settings > Storage and data > Manage storage.
