9to5Google reports that WhatsApp has now released its official Wear OS app, giving beta testers the ability to send text and voice messages from their wrist. The version 2.23.10.10 of the beta app also reportedly shows hints that users may soon be able to edit messages after they were sent. The Wear OS app supports both the Pixel Watch and Galaxy Watch 5 according to the report.
Android Police noted that it is not the first time WhatsApp has offered a smartwatch app. The previous version for Android Wear was eventually discontinued before before the Wear OS rebrand.
With the new Wear OS app, users will be able to browse recent chats, scroll through messaging history and send text and voice messages to reply to friends directly from their watch. Android Police notes that while you can access your existing conversations, the app currently does not provide a way to search through them or initiate a new chat.
To set up WhatsApp on your Wear OS 3 watch, you must enter an eight-digit code displayed on your phone. After that, the Wear OS app will sync all your chats with your phone.
