Gaming fans watching their favourite creators play GTA Online are in for a surprise, as Facebook has teamed up with Rockstar Games to launch free, In-Stream Rewards for those who tune in to some GTA Online Facebook livestreams.
Starting today, watching GTA Online livestreams will be even more rewarding, as Facebook – in partnership with Rockstar Games – will be giving fans GTA$ rewards for watching. Rewards will be given to fans watching “select GTA Online livestreams” on the official Rockstar Games Page and “several partnered creators from the Facebook Gaming Creator program.”
This initiative marks the first time Rockstar has integrated in-game rewards for livestreaming, and it will be available for all fans who link their Facebook account with their Rockstar Games Social Club account.
The first stream will kick off on Friday July 27 at facebook.com/rockstargames “with the Official After Hours Live Stream from Rockstar NYC.” The series will continue with weekly livestreams throughout mid-August with special guest livestreamers from Facebook’s Gaming Creator Program. Fans can also tune into livestreams at Facebook’s new dedicated destination for gaming videos at fb.gg.
The In-Stream Rewards are part of Facebook’s PC Games SDK the company announced this year. A session for the SDK also ran at Facebook’s F8 Developers Conference.
