Dogecoin Replaces Bitcoin As Watford FC Sponsor

Dogecoin has become the new sponsor of Watford Football Club, an English Premier League team.

As more and more major cryptocurrencies start sponsoring sports teams, Dogecoin announced last week that it has also signed a deal with a top team.

The emblematic Shiba Inu dog will now appear on the shirt sleeves of the Watford Football Club, a team in the UK.

The sponsorship deal, reportedly worth around $967,00 USD (£700,000) according to The Athletic, replaces the team’s previous partnership with Bitcoin.

It is part of a collaboration with crypto casino and sports betting platform Stake.com. The latter had announced, in July, that it had secured a multi-year partnership with the team.

In conjunction with the occasion, Stake.com will launch several crypto-themed initiatives, such as a 10 million Dogecoin giveaway. The company has also been associating with the UFC as its first-ever betting partner in Latin America and Asia.

“We could not be more thrilled to partner with a club that has such immense history yet still a true innovative spirit,” said Stake.co.uk CEO Mladen Vuckovic on the new partnership with Watford F.C. “We’re committed to becoming a key part of the Watford family and have a number of exciting initiatives planned for fans over the coming months!”

Recently, AC Milan Football Club also announced a partnership with BitMEX, which also makes the crypto trading platform AC Milan’s official cryptocurrency trading partner.
