Clubhouse may be all the rage these days, the app could soon lose its edge as Twitter is rolling out its own version, Twitter Spaces, to Android. And that could be a game-changer in the social-audio realm.
Can Clubhouse, 10 million iOS downloads be enough to avoid another Meerkat-like storyline? Yes, remember Meerkat, one of the pioneers of live video streaming which disappeared once Twitter acquired Periscope, and more significantly when Facebook took an interest in live streaming.
Twitter announced the rollout to Android on the Twitter Spaces account this Tuesday. Android users can now join and participate in Spaces, but they will not yet be able to create them. Something that should be fixed really soon according to Twitter.

Twitter first introduced Spaces on iOS last November, although the rollout is still limited at the moment. While it has not gained the popularity and momentum that Clubhouse has experienced, reaching the Android community first could give Spaces the edge.
