Twitter has announced the winners of its first ‘Brand Bowl’ competition, showcasing the best ads of Super Bowl 52 according to reactions from users on its platform.
This year’s Super Bowl is now over, but the conversation around the popular sporting event – and especially the ads that appeared throughout – is still going. Just like every year, brands did their best to impress fans, who got to see some really great ads. No matter which one was your favourite, Twitter came up with its list of the top ones that really impressed users and did a great job at using Twitter to spread their message.
Fans turned to Twitter to talk a lot about #SB52, and Twitter was listening in order to award the best in its first-ever #BrandBowl52. Twitter says that 90% of all Super Bowl advertisers took part in the competition, and many used the power of their TV ads to stand out. Others, created excellent campaigns on Twitter itself.
Pepsi was the big winner, with three of its brands getting awarded. Its halftime show, giveaways and the Doritos vs Mountain Dew ad, generated huge amounts of engagement. Pepsi got the MVP award representing the most-tweeted-about brand, while Doritos and Mountain Dew got the Blitz award for generating around 11,000 tweets per minute.
The Jurassic World won the Quarterback award as the most retweeted single tweet, and Tide, Bud Light, Ram Trucks, Avocados From Mexico, Westworld, E-Trade, Amazon, T-Mobile and Australian Tourism won their own category awards with their respective TV ads.
However, it wasn’t necessary to have a TV campaign at all. The Brand Bowl competition awarded Ally Bank with its #Interception award, for a brand without a national TV spot that drove the highest percentage of brand conversation.
