As the Coronavirus pandemic keeps people at home, Twitter has seen a 71% increase in gaming conversations during the last two weeks of March.
It seems like many of us are gamers. Ever since “stay at home” orders have kept nearly 3.5 billion people at home, Twitter has seen a 71% increase in gaming-related conversations. Moreover, the platform saw a 38% increase in unique authors during the second half of March 2020.
Video games are often a hot topic on Twitter, and the current increase can be directly related by the Coronavirus pandemic, as it has eliminated many other forms of entertainment.
For the U.S. specifically, Twitter said there was an 89% increase in conversation volume and a 50% increase in unique authors.
Animal Crossing: New Horizon, Fate/Grand Order and Final Fantasy have been the most-tweeted-about games on Twitter globally so far in 2020.
