Spotify Tests New Stories Format For Influencers

Spotify is testing a new feature that lets select influencers share Stories to introduce their playlists with video clips and album art.

Spotify is making its entry in the long list of platforms now offering the Stories format, alongside Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.

The new Spotify Stories format lets influencers share Stories alongside their public playlists. The format gives them the opportunity to share short video clips that contain snippets of songs and album art to introduce their playlists to their followers.

The new feature is only being tested with select influencers for the moment and is not available to artists on the platform. Spotify did not openly share the selection criteria for this test, but it seems that the number of followers, how engaged their followers are and how active the influencer is on Spotify.

Summer Mckeen, YouTube makeup and fashion vlogger, is one of the firsts to use the new Stories format. She has just over two million subscribers on both YouTube and Instagram, and 126,455 Spotify followers.

Spotify Stories can only be watched via the iOS and Android apps, not on desktop.
